March of the Elves

IMAG0452

And so it begins… my first ever Wood Elves!

I’ve gone for strong summer greens and it was such a relief to paint something that wasn’t blue/grey…  I almost wet myself with joy when I cracked open a pot of green paint!

Now bases are a new thing to me and they totally make the models, what have I been missing?!

So far I’ve done no more than paint sand white to look like snow but now I’ve discovered a whole new world of modelling wonder!  I ordered the Deep Forest Basing Kit from Basecrafts and had some real fun playing around with the stuff I got.  The pack contained resin tree stumps/fallen logs, forrest floor scatter, awesome leaves, bushes and a heap of other bits!

As you can see I’ve gone for some green bushes with yellow flowers made from this spongy material which I’ve layered so that lighter shades were on the top covered with a light sprinkling of yellow flock.

I’ve modelled mushrooms out of green stuff (modelling putty) and I think they add a really nice contrast on the bases.

Did I mention how awesome those leaves on the vines look?!

This was my first time using the new glazes too.  I did one guy with a single layer and another with a double layer and I like the result.  The double is a bit too much on the Sage green cloaks but I love how it makes the metal blades look eerily green.

Working This Out

Eternal Guard Unpainted 900

So this is me trying to work out how to use this damn blogging program.  Having tried to upload the same 1.1mb picture for about an hour (yes I don’t learn very quickly) I think I have managed it!

Picture shrunk!

(If anyone can suggest the best picture size for my cheap skate free blog please comment below!)

Now i’ll probably submit this and corrupt the entire blogosphere with my inadequacy however… apologies if pressing publish now deletes all your blogs.  Actually no I’m not arsed.

If on the off chance that this actually works here is the beginning of my new thing.  Bored stiff of painting the same bloody  Space Wolf armour (why can’t there be more variation?!) I’ve started collecting Warhammer Woodies purely for a hobby endeavour.

I look over my shoulder at my dismally “space wolf grey” display cabinet and cry at the sheer number of unpainted models I have but I have learned!  This time I will forbid myself from buying any more models until I have painted the ones I’ve got!

Lets see how that goes…

So meet the Eternal Guard and the guy who I thought was just an elaborate looking version of the same but turned out to be Lord Araloth, only the ruler of the most prosperous realm of all of Athel Loren (the overgrown bushes the woodies live in)… Should have based him better.

*thought to self* “better copy all this text in case it does actually all bugger off and break wordpress”

A Fable is Born

Greetings and welcome to my modelling/wargaming blog!

Here you will find a pathetic display of narcissistic praise hunting in the form of poorly shot photographs of beer swigging Space Wolves (most of which I probably wont complete) and pansy-ass Wood Elves (most of which I probably wont complete), coupled with some arrogant ramblings about tactics and stuff that will likely make you seek me out in person and stamp on my models all the while screaming “MURGHLALALALABLERGLEPOO”…

And don’t expect much to ever get finished because I have a serious lack of attention span and…. *goes to make a fry up*
